I understand. I was a publication editor for 25 years and freelanced with authors and publishers, yet I hesitated to write my own stories. I simply choked. I 'd start to compose happily, with a sensation of "at last." However within two weeks, I 'd put down my note pad and quit. I didn't call it quiting, obviously. I told myself composing was low on my list of top priorities.
